Recent research advancements in lung-protective ventilation strategies (LPVS) has revealed that ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) arises from the interplay of respiratory parameters such as tidal volume, airway pressure, and respiratory frequency. Mechanical power (MP), a comprehensive indicator of respiratory system energy load, integrates these parameters and has increasingly gained importance in clinical studies. This article aims to summarize the changes in MP during surgery, and evaluate the impact of different mechanical ventilation modes on MP. By delineating these associations, this article aims to inform personalized ventilation strategies in future clinical practice. |
